K-Kron II resists ultraviolet deterioration, chalking, and chemical attack, as well as damage from salt, wind, sleet and snow. It has a 10-year film integrity warranty, which is extended directly to the homeowner.

K-Kron II system involves three steps:

  1. Exterior wood pieces are immersed in a treatment that protects against water, insects and fungus.
  2. A high performance, urethane primer is applied to seal the wood and provide a tough bonding surface.
  3. A topcoat finish is applied using an airless, control-spray system that ensures complete, consistent coverage.

If K-Kron II is not requested, latex primer is available on the exterior to prepare for finishing on the job site.

Neat+™ harnesses the sun's UV rays to breakdown greenhouse gases, other pollutants and loosens dirt so water can rinse it away, leaving windows cleaner, longer. A special sputter-coating process makes the glass ultra smooth, so the water "sheets off" more readily than it would on uncoated glass, allowing you to spend less time cleaning.

Kolbe offers glazing options to provide optimum energy efficiency for the geographic region in which you live. Low-E is a "smart" coating that reduces energy transfer through the insulating glass unit. The result is reduced heating and cooling costs throughout the year. Low-E coatings also reduce the potential for condensation, as well as provide protection against fading of furniture, fabrics and carpeting.

Kolbe offers the following Low-E glass options, as well as many specialized options.

Solar Low-E

Suitable for most climates and meets most energy zone requirements. Solar Low-E glass is designed to reflect room-side heat back into the room during winter months. In summer, visible sunlight is allowed in while blocking most of the sun's infrared heat energy. Kolbe's standard.

Solar Gain Low-E

When the weather turns frigid, Solar Gain Low-E glass is the perfect cold remedy. It keeps homes warmer and more comfortable by blocking heat loss to the outside and letting the sun's heat stream in to increase solar heat gain.

Solar Advanced Control Low-E

A tinted glass recommended for warm climates that achieves solar control over a wide range of the spectrum, while also helping to reduce glare.

Solar Control Low-E

Offers an ideal balance of solar control and high visibility by blocking 95% of UV rays while maintaining the interior temperature.

ThermaPlus Low-E

An additional Low-E coating which helps to meet the strictest energy requirements by providing protection against heat loss and UV damage. Available with dual pane versions of Solar Low-E, Solar Control Low-E, Solar Increased Control Low-E, or Solar Advanced Control Low-E glass.

Triple Pane

Provides a greater energy performing window that keeps indoor air warm and comfortable, prevents heat loss and lowers your heating bills. It is constructed with three panes of glass, thermal spacer bars and is available in Solar Low-E, Solar Gain Low-E, Solar Control Low-E and Solar Advanced Control Low-E glass.

Preserve® Film

A protective film that protects the glass surfaces from scratches during transit and construction, as well as reducing the time involved in job site clean-up.

Tinted, Colored or Patterned

Provides shading, privacy or visual interest.

Tempered

Standard in Kolbe doors to address safety concerns. Also available in window units to meet specific building codes.

Laminated

Benefits include safety, security, sound control and provides the ultimate in UV blockage.

Impact

Glazing utilized to withstand harsh environmental conditions, especially in coastal regions. Combined with an impact rated product, this glazing offers the highest level of security.

Neat+™

Harnesses the sun's UV rays to breakdown greenhouse gases, other pollutants and loosens dirt so water can rinse it away, leaving windows cleaner, longer. A special sputter-coating process makes the glass ultra smooth, so the water "sheets off" more readily than it would on uncoated glass, allowing you to spend less time cleaning.

Divided Lites

With Kolbe's performance divided lite (PDL) system, bars are adhered on the interior and exterior of an insulating glass unit and bars aligned within the unit.

PDL bars are available in various widths and patterns. They may be finished to match the exterior and/or interior, as requested.

True divided lites are the historically authentic method of visually dividing windows. Each division is a separate piece of glass, with wood bars that hold the units in place. TDL bars are available in various custom widths, profiles, and patterns. TDL bars are finished to match the exterior and/or interior, as requested.

Exterior Material

Heritage Series are traditional windows and doors with all wood construction. The vast flexibility of wood allows for architecturally intricate details, trim and accessories, as well as K-Kron II factory-applied exterior finish or finishing on the job site.

Exterior Trim

Casing helps define the architectural design of a structure. It frames the curbside view of windows and doors, and often evokes a period style. Heritage Series wood casing is flexible in terms of aesthetic possibilities. It is usually finished the same color as the window unit, but can be a contrasting color for visual impact.

Insect Screens

Various types of screen mesh are available to keep insects from entering open windows and doors. Most Kolbe windows and doors have BetterVue® fiberglass mesh, which is less visible than many screens in the industry. Plus, the tighter weave keeps smaller bugs out, is flame retardant, and doesn't stain, crease or dent.

For even better visibility, request UltraVue® mesh. Both BetterVue and UltraVue are GreenGuard®-certified, meaning that they meet strict chemical emissions limits for healthier interiors. Plus, they have the added value of Water Shed Technology™, which is an advanced water repellent coating that allows screens to repel water and debris. It increases the life expectancy of the screens by keeping them cleaner longer. Water beads up and rolls off, to preserve viewing clarity, rain or shine. As you can see, the view remains much more visible when screens have Water Shed Technology applied (left side of Water Shed photo), as opposed to those without it (right side of Water Shed photo).

Aluminum screen mesh is available for areas with fiberglass screen-eating insects.
